Torch Run 2026

We would like to thank everyone who attended today for supporting the Special
Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.  The Torch Run raises awareness and funds for
the Special Olympics, providing an opportunity for law enforcement and the community
to champion inclusion and respect for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
We would like to thank Benjamin Milbrath and Craig Mearns from the Longbridge
Marina for allowing us to use their facilities, Les Schwab for their financial support and
sponsorship of the event throughout the state, Mike Fitch from Idaho Special Olympics
for his collaboration and guidance in setting up the event, John Kludt and the Sandpoint
Special Olympics participants for being here to support our event, the Bonner Daily Bee
for their coverage of the event, multiple law enforcement agencies including Idaho
State, Ponderay, and Sandpoint Police, as well as Bonner County Sheriff’s Office, for
their participation in the run itself, and Sheriff Daryl Wheeler for taking time to speak.
